From Real Moms!
Pros and cons do you find with Montessori schools vs. non-Montessori day care?
What is really being that is practiced.
Answer: ( Below are the top 4 answers)
1.Montessories do more structure work with children and less playtime and toys ect .
2.Ours is montessori applicant
They are super nice kind and warm! Lots of hugging, lots of kind words, lots of singing and all the good things
They put emphasis on a routine. Also, they incorporate strategies to help the child develop independence. For example, each toddler brings their plate and puts it in the dirty bin by themselves Once they’re done eating.
Or the child helps with changing clothes, or putting garbage in the trash (eg napkin once clean the hands), or clean up and organize the toys once they’re done playing.
They do all that in a kind and gentle way!
But each daycare might be different! I’m not sure if it’s a Montessori way or their own modified way.
That’s our observation!
3.The Montessori principle is material based learning through self discovery…The teachers will not show the child how to do something but rather let them discover for themselves.
4.My oldest went to regular daycare (albeit a ‘top quality’ one) and my twins go to Montessori. I don’t see any difference except the room set up is much simpler and natural at Montessori. The daily routine is the same and their development has been the same.
