Over the last year, Punta Cana has exploded in popularity and has become one of the most requested destination in the Caribbean. With crystal blue seas, powder white sand and unlimited sunshine, it really is no surprise that everyone wants to visit this idyllic hot spot.
Lucky for me, I just returned from Punta Cana where I can able to get a first hand look at some of the exciting updates, new renovations and amazing family friendly resorts. Here are my Top 5 Favourite!
Grand Bahia Principe Fantasia Don Pablo Collection – many people like to refer to this resort as the Disney of the Caribbean. With a massive castle in the middle of the resort, it’s straight out of a fairly tale! In the evening the Castle lights up with a magnificent light display and fireworks to entertain the whole family. With a huge waterpark, kids club, special check-in for the kiddies, and unlimited activities and entertainment for the whole family, it’s sure to please everyone!
Royalton Punta Cana Resort & Casino – if you are looking for a resort with a monolithic waterpark, look no further than Royalton Punta Cana. This resort has the largest on-resort waterpark in all of the Caribbean and includes multiple water slides, wave pool, and splash pad. And the best part is that the resort sits on a wonderful stretch of beach, so you can make the beach lover in the family happy too! This resort offers phenomenal food ranging from Asian to Italian to Mexican to Seafood and extra treats like a Coffee Shop for an afternoon caffeine jolt or sugar rush if you want a sweet treat. For extra luxury, splurge for the Diamond Club which offers preferred room locations, butler service, preferential reservations at the al carte restaurants, upgraded room service and pillow menu just to name a few. For a more budget friendly option, Memories Splash sits directly behind Royalton and has full access to the beach and waterpark.
Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana – although its easy to get caught up in the bells and whistles of shiny new resorts, there are still some classic gems that have won my heart and will always have a special place. The beauty of travel is that there are resorts that appeal to everyone and this one is perfect for those looking for something more compact, more romantic and intimate. With about 500 rooms, this easy to get around resort is perfect for the little ones and for multi-generational groups if planning to take the grand-parents. This resort sits on a picturesque palm-studded beach with some of the most majestic turquoise waters I have ever seen. The resort is built in a convenient u-share which creates short walking distance between the rooms, restaurants, pools and beach. With limitless access to gourmet a la carte dining options without reservations required, unlimited international & domestic top-shelf spirits, 24-hour room service & concierge service, pool and beach wait service, no wristbands and endless daytime activities and live nightly entertainment, it has so much to offer. With a kid’s club that starts a 3 years old and a Core Zone Teens Club the kids will make instant friends and come home asking to return time and time again.
Nickelodeon Resort Punta Cana – this resort has been a favourite resort of mine and for many of my clients who have experienced everything that it has to offer. I had more clients at this resort over the last year than all the other resorts combined and everyone has come back wanting to return. This resort is gorgeous, the grounds are lush, the amenities are in abundance and the overall feel of the resort is luxurious. This resort makes it to the top of my list due to it’s unique accommodations (who doesn’t want to stay in a Pineapple?!?!), the fun waterpark with lazy river, the ability to get slimmed and the Gourmet Food! The kids love all the Characters from Sponge Bob to the Ninja Turtles and the interactive entertainment team makes sure that everyone joins in all the fun. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana – want to be treated like music royalty? Look no further than Hard Rock Punta Cana! This phenomenal resort has a rock and roll vibe that gets everyone into the music! With 13 pools, 9 restaurants, and spacious suites, it’s the highest level of luxury you can find. For the musicians in the family, you can visit the Music Lab where guests 12 and older can live out their music fantasy by getting expert instruction and the chance to perform on stage in their own band. For the little ones there is “The Little Big Club” Experience where they can sing and dance with Barney and Angelina Ballerina just to name a few. Coming in 2018, the resort is building Woodward Punta Cana which will offer a chance to snowboard and snow ski, along with a skate and BMX park, hip hop dance program, trampoline, a Digital Media Camp and more. The amenities of these resort are off the charts!
