Following in Daddy’s footsteps!

Things you will need:

  • One of daddy’s shoes (sshh don’t let him know!)
  • A white t-shirt, or other fabric such as a kitchen cloth.
  • fabric paint, different colour for each child and daddy’s shoe

Step 1:

Lay the white t-shirt flat on the ground to avoid wrinkles when applying the paint.

Step 2:

Paint the bottom of daddy’s shoe, and press down in the center of the t-shirt, ensure the tread is pressed down evenly from heel to toe so that the entire shoeprint is clear. Make sure to thoroughly clean off the shoe from any paint so that daddy won’t know!

Step 3:

Once the paint from your first layer has dried, it’s time for the next footprint. Your child with the largest foot should go next, paint the bottom of their bare foot with a different colour of paint, and have them step on the shirt, heel to toe, over top of daddy’s shoeprint, with the child’s heel in the same position as the fathers. Clean off the pain from your child’s foot!

Step 4:

If you have more than one child continue step 3 for each child, using a different colour for each, and ensuring that the smaller feet are placed on top.  Don’t forget to allow the paint to dry between applications or the colours will smear together.

Step 5:

Once all of your footprints have dried, using either paint or a fabric marker, write on the t-shirt:

Following in Daddy’s Footsteps

**Tip! Use the Lightest colour for daddy’s footprint, and allow each layered footprint to be done in a darker colour to provide the best contrast for each layer.

Note: This craft can also be done on paper or card, just substitute the fabric paint for washable paint!
