This is my 4 1/2 week old granddaughter Lilina. “PiePie” is a even BIGGER blessing from the Lord than a Grandbaby is… My momma was in the midst of her war against lung cancer when my daughter, HER first Grandbaby, a granddaughter found out she was pregnant. Momma was overwhelmed with emotion… ecstatic because she was going to be a “Great Gamma”, yet immensely saddened because we knew she would not be here to see the arrival of the baby. 🙁
Momma was still with us at the end of May when Stephanie went for her first ultrasound, the tech told us the baby was about the size of a “blueberry”… Thus “Baby BlueBerry” was the “pie” in the oven. (Momma came up with that. Oddly enough, my parents have a pick your own blueberry orchard.) Stephanie wanted to keep a part of her Grandma alive for the baby in some way, so she asked my Momma if the baby was a girl could they give her the middle name of Irene… momma teared up when Steph asked, and she said YES!!! “PiePie”‘s full name is: Lilina Irene Small.
Momma lost her long, hard fought battle against lung cancer on June 6th… And on August 1st we found out Steph was going to have a girl. 🙂
And so Momma kept this little precious blessing from above safe despite her Momma’s body trying to reject little Lili the whole pregnancy…. and now there she is!!! Perfect, beautiful, healthy, and EVERY bit a spit fire already… JUST like her Great Gamma Janice Irene!
