There’s a new support group in town and everyone is invited to bring their oversize baggage. Called The Ex-Files, the group brings together single parents (and their friends) to help one another deal with the ups and downs of raising kids alone.

“This is a great chance for single parents to meet others, be inspired, have fun and support one another in a positive environment,” says co-founder Erin Dym, a single mom with two little boys.

“We know how overwhelming it can be to raise kids on your own,” says co-founder Simone Finkelstein. “Erin and I were lucky to be rely on each other during the early days of being separated, and now we want to help other single parents learn to thrive.”

The Ex-Files will be hosting it’s first “whine and cheese” event on May 13 from 7-9pm. Guest speaker Andrea Share, a counselor specializing in life transitions, stress management and relationships, will be giving a keynote address. There will also be prizes and a chance to mingle with others in what the duo knows will be an inspiring, empowering evening for single parents and their friends and relatives.

“We sent out an email to everyone we know and so far the response has been overwhelming,” says Erin. “We seem to have hit upon a niche in the community.”

The Ex-Files is planning regular social events that will be both fun and meaningful. For more information on the group (and how to RSVP), visit them on Facebook at
