Our kids have wild imaginations. One minute they are race car drivers flying through the streets of a made-up city and the next they are wizards casting spells and making magic. We love to watch them explore the depths of their imagination. We always try to guide their curious minds to think about the possibilities that they can achieve in their future.
Sure, in theory they could become wizards but while they wait for their letters from Hogwarts, exploring the ideas of other career choices can be a lot of fun too. We try to facilitate imagination-based games where they play doctor or shopkeeper and help them when they want to perform a play or paint a picture. Our hope is that this will set their minds in motion thinking about the possibility that they could one day be a surgeon, a small business owner, an actor or an artist.
The best part of it is that imagination games are always free and readily available. All you need is your creative mind (which is another really great thing to encourage in our kids.)
Once the gears are in motion and imaginations are soaring we imagine how we might help them along the way. How we can teach them, support them and one day pay for them to achieve their wildest dreams.
