The weekend is looking cooler and possibly rainy. Fingers crossed the rain holds off as there are a number of outdoor events going on this weekend including the Waterfront Blues Festival in Toronto’s East End, Annual Rotary Ribfest in Pickering, Clarkson’s Ultimate Block Party in Mississauga, Street Festivals in Milton and Aurora, and the Mill Pond Splash Eco-Festival in Richmond Hill!

There’s a mom 2 mom sale in the Beaches on Saturday June 2 from 11am-2pm at St. John’s Norway Church at 470 Woodbine Avenue. $3/ shopper, kids are free, lots of parking and stroller friendly. If you’re there, please come by my table, say ‘hello’, and pickup some free colouring sheets, lollipops (and candies for you!), and enter into a draw to win a cute Skip Hop backpack and lunchie (I will also update my contest page soon!).

Don’t forget the Samko and Miko Toy Warehouse is still on until June 10th in Etobicoke and Richmond Hill!

1. Waterfront Blues in Toronto’s East End

June 1- 3 | Toronto’s East End

Waterfront Blues at Woodbine Park (Lake Shore Blvd E. & Coxwell Ave).

For the 8th consecutive year, Waterfront Blues continues to speak one language only – The Blues! When the event started it was positioned as Metro Toronto’s only genuine Blues festival and remains just that. Yes there are some of the siblings of Blues represented – Soul, Funk, and R&B – but it’s all essentially Blues. Check the website for the lineup on stage.

This is a free event. There will also be a BBQ and a children’s play area.

2. Mount Albert Sports Day & Spring Fair in East Gwillimbury

June 1- 3 | East Gwillimbury

Mount Albert Sports Day & Spring Fair at Mount Albert Community Centre ( 53 Main Street)

Chlidren’s activity tent including face painting, games, balloons and other activities, clowns, temporary tattoos, pet contest, hot air balloon rides (free with admission), parade, family bbq (free with admission), and more!

Children 12 and under are free. Adults are $5 and seniors and students $3. Weekend passes available.

3. Annual Rotary Ribfest in Pickering

Friday, June 1 to Sunday 3, 2012, Noon to 11:00 pm or Noon to 7:00 pm Sunday | Pickering

5th Annual Rotary Ribfest (Esplanade Park, at City Hall in Pickering).

Watch 8 professional Ribbers and enjoy live entertainment, carnival, open air market, food & more!

4. Jungle Crafty Kids in East Gwillimbury

June 2 at 10:30 am | East Gwillimbury

Kids ages 3-8 are invited for Jungle Crafty Kids (Holland Landing Branch, 19513 Yonge Street, Holland Landing). Make your own jungle animals at the library. It’s free!

5. Children’s Choir in Mississauga

June 2 at 7:30pm | Mississauga

Mississauga Children’s Choir- City Scapes at the RBC Theatre at the Living Arts Centre (Burnhamthorpe Rd W & Confederation Pkwy)

Our cities are vibrant, exciting places and so we sing with passion about our urban culture. Our varied programme explores the vast range of sounds and sights in our modern cities. We are thrilled to present a new piece especially composed for this concert by Mississauga composer Michael Coghlan.

Tickets are $25 each.

6. Clarkson’s Ultimate Block Party in Mississauga

June 2 at 10am- 4pm | Mississauga

Clarkson’s Ultimate Block Party at Clarkson Community Centre (2471 Truscott Drive- Q.E.W. & Winston Churchill Blvd)

Fun day of activities for all ages. Local talent featured on stage, barbeque, clowns, magic show, BMX demos, crafts, information tables about resources for the community. Rain or shine!

Cost: Non-perisbale food item for Food Bank

7. Cottingham Fun Fair in Downtown Toronto

June 2 at 11:30am- 3:30pm | Downtown Toronto

Cottingham Fun Fair at Cottingham Public School (85 Birch Avenue- Avenue & Davenport)

Fun fair activities include dunk tank, pony rides, bouncy castle, bouncy obstacle course, games and prizes, barbeque, bake sale, fire truck, face painting, book sale, and magician (on at 2:30pm).

8. Street Festival in Milton

June 2 at 12pm – 11pm | Milton

Downtown Milton Street Festival at Milton Town Hall (150 Mary Street)

Come to the festival to enjoy three stages of live entertainment and one performance area, featuring over 40 performing artists who will present live music, comedy and demonstrations. There will be music for all tastes and all ages, including folk, jazz, rock, easy listening, blues, big band, Celtic, country and much more!

Bring the whole family to enjoy this special children’s area from noon to 8:00 p.m. Air bouncies, rock wall climbing, face painting, entertainment, activities, games and more.

Admission is FREE!

9. Street Festival in Aurora

June 3 at 11am- 5pm | Aurora

Aurora Chamber Street Festival at Yonge Street in Aurora between Wellington St & Murray Drive

The Festival is family-friendly and for all ages. There are over 500 vendors on Yonge Street, fantastic “Street Performers”, musical entertainment and so much more. A section of Yonge Street is closed to traffic, allowing vendors and visitors full access to the street. The event happens rain or shine and parking and admission are always free.

10. Mill Pond Splash Eco-Festival in Richmond Hill

Sunday June 3 at 12- 4:30pm | Richmond Hill

Mill Pond Splash Eco-festival at Mill Pond Park (Bathurst & Elgin Mills Rd W)

Mill Pond Splash is a lively, family oriented event showcasing environmental conservation and our natural heritage. With a children’s activity zone, live music, native wildlife shows, tree and shrub planting, a local food market, and environmental displays – there’s lots to see and do!

11. Family FUNday at Colborne Lodge

June 1 (Friday P.A. Day) at 12- 5pm| Toronto- West End

Family FUNday at Colborne Lodge in High Park (click here for directions)

Kids will fish for the truth (or legend) about 1813 and High Park when you bring them to Colborne Lodge. Purchase a Grenadier’s shako (hat) for $2.25 plus tax for your kids.

12. Family FUNday at Fort York

June 1 at 11am- 4pm | Downtown Toronto

Family FUNday at Fort York (250 Fort York Boulevard or 100 Garrison Road)

Open at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (activities 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Join us for some family fun. Kids can try an authentic War of 1812 soldier’s drill, learn how officers trained with the sword, and experience a game that the Garrison children might have played. Enjoy a tour of the site including the Officers’ Mess and 1826 kitchen. Visitors can tour the rest of the exhibits and walk the ramparts of this national treasure.

13. Family FUNday at Mackenzie House

June 1 at 12- 5pm | Downtown Toronto

Family FUNday at Mackenzie House (82 Bond Street- Yonge & Dundas)

Bring your family to the home of William Lyon Mackenzie and his family! Print a souvenir of your visit on our 1845 printing press, and try your hand at paper weaving.

14. Family FUNday at Spadina Museum

June 1 at 12- 5pm | Downtown Toronto

Family FUNday at Spadina Museum (285 Spadina Road next door to Casa Loma)

Bring your family for a tour which includes a scavenger hunt and decorate your own cupcake in our historic 1930s kitchen.
