Recently, I headed out to see Disney on Ice: Rockin’ Ever After with my daughter. Before we could even get to our seats, my daughter was already fascinated by the amount of people and the buzzing excitement that took over the room. You could tell it wasn’t just the kids that were looking forward to the show.

For all those with daughters (and even sons!), this is the show for you! The show featured Disney Princesses and other very popular characters and summarized four major Disney stories into an hour and a half. Mickey and Minnie Mouse, along with good ol’ Donald Duck and Goofy were the hosts for the night and helped introduce the characters and also keep the stories moving. Our main princesses for the night were Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel from Tangled, Merida from Brave and Belle from the Beauty and the Beast. The producers and the entire crew did a wonderful job at staying creative with this show. They were able to incorporate parts of the movies that most people would not think as that important, like for example Maximum, the horse, in Tangled or giving Gaston, from the Beauty and the Beast, his own solo act. It was also really impressive for the show to include recent movies such as Tangled and Brave instead of the usual Cinderella or perhaps Sleeping Beauty. Rapunzel and Merida definitely won the crowd over with hanging lanterns and even a display of archery skills paired with fireworks. They even made sure to have Merida’s three little brothers pop in for a bit.

The highlight for me was the last princess of the show, Belle from the Beauty and the Beast – they recreated sets from the movie such as the library (what amazing decor!) and also the scene with Belle’s castle friends, the teacup, the candle and the clock, welcoming her to the castle with the song, “Be Our Guest!” My daughter Iyla absolutely loved it! As you can tell, I was a big fan of the Beauty and the Beast part of the show and it definitely topped off the night fabulously!

To brief it all up into one sentence: The skating was formidable, the set and the costumes were colourful and brilliant, the stories were formidably narrated and presented – needless to say, it was a huge success! Whether or not you’re looking to take your kids out to see a show, Disney on Ice: Rockin’ Ever After is a must-see! It’s fun enough for all ages and keeps you entertained and interested through the entire thing.
