We went with our family and some friends to see Ross Petty’s A Christmas Carol last weekend and we absolutely loved it. Ross Petty has a unique skill of creating productions that entertain adults with his witty satire while entertaining children with his timeless stories and audience participation. The story was loosely based on the classic Dickens story and had a very modern twist. In Ross Petty’s version, Scrooge tried to steal the Christmas spirit by creating a new app Christmas Crush (a reference to the ubiquitous Candy Crush) that would ruin Christmas. The singing was great and they sang songs that the entire audience knows. My favourite was when the whole cast broke out into a version of Despacito. AJ Bridel played the lead female character Jane and her vocals and dance moves were very strong. Dan Chameroy played Plumbum and his character and comedic timing stole every scene. Luckily, at the end of the play Scrooge realized the error of his ways and saves Christmas thanks to Plumbum and the rest of the cast. I highly recommend this play to all ages, everyone will enjoy it!
