If you’re like me and have a 1,001 things to do on the daily because somehow there’s just never enough time in the day to complete everything – stop what you’re doing and take 4 minutes to read this.
I can almost promise you this will change your mood.
It’s 8am and you’ve been up for the past hour, if not longer, wondering how to best tackle your day. Well, have you considered starting your day with a fresh, quick skincare routine? This is bound to wake you up and revitalize your skin. Start with a mild daily cleanser like Cerave, available at Shoppers Drugmart and a hydrating moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin.
Now that we have our basic skin routine in place, you are ready for your makeup essentials.
And I get it, you DON’T have time, right? Or if you do, you’d rather be catching up on sleep instead.
Well, this is life-changing. Take the next few minutes to empower yourself and learn how a little bit of mascara and blush can go a long long way. So here they are, the MUST HAVE essentials for every mommy or mommy in the making:
- Mascara: I love my L’Oreal Voluminous mascara. I’ve been using it for years and cannot rave enough about it although FiberLash comes in as a close second. Whatever your preference, mascara is key. It will pop open your eyes and give some dimension. (If you happen to have an extra minute, I would recommend curling them too, prior to applying mascara). If you don’t want to bother, skip the curler and go right to mascara.
- Concealer: This is what I believe to be one of the most important tools against looking tired or older. A concealer in the right tone will not only correct the undereye area but will flatten out the bags under your peepers and look brighter as a result. This is one product you want an expert to colour match you. More on this in future posts.
- Tinted Moisturizer/BB Cream: This gives you an even complexion without looking heavy and evens out your skin. Quick application and noticeably enhances the skin and texture. Who could ask for anything more?!
- Blush: Whether you prefer a cream based, or a powder, the options are limitless but a little of blush gives you that fresh look, especially in the winter months when we get so little colour.
- Lipstick: No makeup would be complete without a touch of colour on the lips. For an every day look, you are better going with a colour that will be harmonious with the rest of the face, ie. different shades of dusty pinks, plums, and/or peachy/corals. If you are feeling totally overwhelmed and not sure which colour to wear, look at the inside of your lip as a guiding tool to help find a colour that closely matches that look. It gives the same flushed lip effect – both sexy and fun.
There you have it.
